Re: Browser Question
I'm using Firefox 2 as an alternate (not as my default) and get it to open
links from anywhere on my HD--excluding email--with a shortcut to it in the
SendTo folder.
I do like Ff's tabbed paging and its little add-on called "IE Tab" which
allows The Fox to load elegant IE pages using IE's rendering engine--but
aside from that I'm not impressed. On my computer Firefox 2 is slower
at everything than IE 6 and its coloring and formatting of elements is both
disappointing and exasperating. I also had to set Ff to empty its cache
every time it was closed and to remember to close its window if my dial-up
connection lapsed while I had it loaded. Leaving an Ff window open while
reconnecting caused a total lock-up of my computer with subsequent
Scandisking required to remove corrupt Ff cache files. Eeeiiiuuu! :-b
I've tried out Avant, Acoo, Opera, and another browser (which name escapes
me--think it began with a "D") that when uninstalled left stubborn remnants
of itself on context menus--but I only have Ff and Opera installed now:
Opera for seeing how badly it mutilates my IE web pages; and Ff mostly
for writing scripts to make it format them satisfactorily without the IE
tab. (Why can't all browsers speak the same language ---> IE's!)
In summary, IE is far too beautiful for ME to give up ;-)
