Since moving to Windows 10 Shadow copies no longer on the local machine. In Windows 7 I was able to use shadow copy to view previous version of files and folders but not previous version does not populate anything.
This is a clean install of Windows 10 in an enterprise environment.
Windows 10 1709 & 1803
Protection is enabled on the C: drive but that does nothing.
I setup a scheduled task to run this command: wmic shadowcopy call create Volume='C:\'
It will create shadow copies but it does cause some performance issues like occasionally freezes the pc when the task runs
File history does not work for this case as it requires an additional storage location and does not work the same using previous versions tab.
has shadow copy been deprecated in or to push file history?
can shadow copy still be used without performance impact?
how would I enable it if system protection does not enable it in our environment?
