hi,

if i encrypt my hard drive with bitlocker,
and do complete system image & also data backups,
are those backups also protected by bitlocker encryption ???

thanks,
mike.

Re: encryption & backups...

If you're using tools that run after you boot the copy of Windows protected
by BitLocker, then the backups won't be encrypted.

And you don't want to use a backup from a tool that runs before boot,
because it will be a sector-by-sector copy of the data.

Not only is that huge and uncompressible, but it also can only be restored
to a machine that has at least the same size drive, same sector sizes, and
same number and placement of bad sectors.
