Hi Everyone,
In a domain environment, our W10 computers were deleting contents of c:\users\username\appdata\local\temp.
Unfortunately this occurred while the contents of that folder were in use by an in house application.
As you can guess, the program had to be closed and relaunched to populate the now missing data.
Process monitor eventually identified the culprit....cleanmgr.exe.
This lead to identifying built in Windows tasks that runs the exe...found it here:
Task Scheduler (Local) | Task Scheduler Library | Microsoft | Windows | DiskCleanup
On ones local computer, the settings can be altered....so on the Conditions tab, I can change the default setting:
'Start the task only if the computers is idle for: 10 minutes --> to 2 hours , which would resolve our issue I believe.
Given that assumption, I wish to know if there are existing GPP/GPO settings that allow me to set this on 200 call centre computers.
If not, does changing this value generate a change in the local registry? If correct I could push that via GPO, but don't know where in registry to look.
Advice or even a better way to control this is much appreciated.
I do not wish to disable diskclean/cleanmgr recognizing it is an important part of Windows self maintenance.
Thankyou, Andy
Andy
