Hello,
yesterday we got two Lenovo X1 Extreme with Windows 10 Pro preinstalled. We created a custom Administrator accout "admin" on both PCs and installed all Windows Updates. At the moment we have build 17134.376 on both. Both Pcs are not in a domain.
Now when I want to install assmeblies to the Global Assembly Cache (right click to cmd and run as administrator) it works on one PC and not on the other. On one Laptop we get this error:
gacutil -I c:\temp\SivasTemplateWizard.dll
Microsoft (R) .NET Global Assembly Cache Utility. Version 4.0.30319.0
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
Failure adding assembly to the cache: Administrator permissions are needed to use the selected options. Use an administrator command prompt to complete these tasks.
We have no idea what the problem is, because we are connected as administrator and the command windows is running as administrator as well. Installing software that needs to install into GAC is not working as well. So it is a general problem but not one of GACUTIL itself.
We had the effect on two new surface devices as well. What worked for them is to reinstall windows.
Does anybody has an idea?
Thanks,
Tobias
