Issue:

Windows 10 1803 gets a black screen for about 1 minute after logging in. This also happens when you restart the Explorer.exe from Task Manager. On multi-screen setup, the main screen shows a black screen with the mouse cursor, while the 2nd screen shows the desktop background.

The Start Menu shows in front of the black screen but launched apps are behind the "black screen" and cannot be moved to using Alt+Tab.

This issue starts when we enable co-management of SCCM and Intune. Basically when the Windows 10 1803 computer gets connected to Azure.

Software Versions:

  • Windows 10 1803
  • SCCM 1806

Workaround:

We don't enable the co-management for now but when this issue happened for some computers previously, the workaround was to delete the computer from Azure under Intune Devices --> All Devices.
