I hope someone here can help me, and please understand that I was directed to this forum by a Microsoft Agent.
I recently upgraded my hard drive on a Dell laptop, and did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 v1809. I created a user account as I had previously done, but selected "work" as this is my primary company computer. I have since learned that, for whatever reason, while this allowed me to access my Office 365 Business account, it also put my account into Azure Ad, so that my full user name is "AzureAD\[user name]". This would not be a problem, except that I was unable to access a NAS device I had previously used in my earlier Windows 10 install. Local accounts are able to access this resource without issue, which I confirmed after an earlier exchange with a Microsoft agent (the one who referred me here).
Looking at the NAS and support documents (a WD PR4100), I can set the NAS to use Active Directory, which I believe should cure my access problems. The WD instructions, though, are vague at best. WD wants me to input the following four items, but doesn't explain what these are, or where to locate the data, and my initial attempts have been unsuccessful and return errors.
The data WD wants me to input is:
User Name — WD wants the Active Directory server account name
My questions:
1) Is the Active Directory server account name the same as my full user account name, i.e., "AzureAD\[user name]", or something else? If something else, is there an add-on to the earlier, or where can I find it?
2) What is the Active Directory server password? Is it the same as my user account? FYI, I am the only user of this machine, and only the native Administrator account (a local one, not AD) and I have registered passwords on the machine.
3) Where do I find my FQDN? Is this my domain that is hosted by Office 365? A generic Office 365 domain? Something else? Where would I find the something else?
4) Which DNS server IP address should I enter? The one tied to my domain in my A profile, a generic MS one, or something else? Where to find this?
I'm optimistic that with some guidance on what to enter and where to find it, I can fix this issue and happily access my NAS from an AD account!
Many thanks for your replies and your patience with a newby.
