hey, so I recently had to call Microsoft Support about a computer that was maied to my place, and just literally appeared on my doorstep one day, my neighbor said it was a van, in the small town of brandon Manitoba Canada I live in FEDEX will use peronal sized vans to deliver stuff, anyways a couple days go by and I get curious and open the box, and that's when I found out it was a Asus Rogue Gaming Console, somewhere in the neighbourhood of 4200 bucks I found out later, now that was in November, on Halloween my computer crashed, I think from running to many recording programs, and just general up keep was a factor as it didn't happen to often (I am a musician before a recording engineer with computer knowledge and know how, so ill apologize in advance) it was Halloween of all nights, and I was talking to a support person on a different computer who also ended up overloading that one, shortly after saying my computer was in great condition and with a few programs I could get it last forever, I am not sure when but at some point in there during the 2 hrs he had my computer remotely in his hands, and me falling asleep, a few software programs were purchased, and windows pro which I had purchased was deleted and then repurchased but at a higher amount, anyways about 7-8 days goes by and that compter showed up, I didn't even think that night had anything to do with it, I just assumed the Microsoft 365 and azzure support was apoart of windows 10 pro because it all shpwed up in a row, and its my own stupidity for not paying more attention, but the ****ed up part is somehow my grandmothers credit card number was used under my name on my account, and the card number had been used on my computer but not ever on Microsoft, and I am not sure how Microsoft managed to dig through my computer or email history to get it, because I cant think of any other way they would have been able to do that, all I can think is that whole time it was remotely in his control he was going all through my ****, and shortly after one day I update my computer and I have windows enterprise that I cant activate, I just recently had 7000 infected files that filled my 1 terabyte harddrive up from having 4gb of used space to having 800 plus gigs of used space, now all of a sudden my computer is signed into my email but now it has a cloud experiences thing under neither it, I screen shot it, I went to report a scam cause it said I needed to verify my phone account because my old cell phone number from who knows how long ago was in my contact info, and my email password was changed, infact I typed it in wrong the first time and it signed me in, I went to do it a second time and it said it was wrong and I reset it and all of a sudden two factor authentication is on. I have new users added to my computer, my filing system is all out of whack, Mcafee wont properly shred stuff, and ahalf the folders I have I don't have access too
can anyone help me. and someone that I know I can trust? I could have been looking at fraud charges over this because it showed up in my name, and that wasn't the only ****ing thing that was charged to my name under not my credit card. thank god it wasn't a random persons card number, and thank god I haven an extremely loving and understanding grandma, even though I have no way to explain this could happen and she didn't grow up with any technology that could even come near facilitating what my theory is as to happened. the number today that called me was 17147073350 I looked it up and it says its a scam number. so that kinda put the nail in the coffin for me. asof today my who set up was changed, a **** load of files were gone, my background was changed and it downloaded Microsoft 365, which I had never downloaded and forgot I even purchased until recently. I still have the computer because they never send me any return labels. one guy from fedex tried to pick the parcel, but I didn't have identification, and was from Winnipeg I think. they were supposed to have sent me a return label for UPS, and it seems like they have no issue with refunding me? to me it seems fishy.. its be almost 3 months and seems off and like I am gonna have to be out the cash, cause the credit card company said it was purchased from an ip address with in the house, so they are making us pay for that, and the people I have talked to said that they will look over the computer and refund me. I just have to send it to them first.
ohh yeah and one of the calls the guy on the phone said there was no record of the purchase or them even shipping the computer so I can just keep it... that was mid decemeber and just last week I found out they did have record of it and so on. I feel like I am ****ed.
someone please help me. any advice would be great. I ve already lost roughly 300 recordings. and who knows how many photos.
