Hello, I have a strange problem with the Notepad Jump List on my Win7/64 system.
I'm running Win7/64 Ultimate, and I found my Notepad Jumplist has stopped functioning.
I followed through all the details in this thread here:
Jump List History location?
And also here:
What's very strange, is I have verified that the 64bit notepad.exe is the one being used, however suddenly the jumplist file that's being updated is the one that has the 32 bit AppID.
So under the directory %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
for 64bit the file which should be updated is;
9b9cdc69c1c24e2b.automaticDestinations-ms
But instead, the system has now created and updates the file with the 32bit AppID of;
918e0ecb43d17e23.customDestinations-ms
I've tried deleting both these files, rebooting. and it always comes back the same.
With the 9b9cdc69c1c24e2b.automaticDestinations-ms deleted, the jump list does not show in the start menu at all, and the file does not get recreated.
Instead, the 32bit type file "918e0ecb43d17e23.customDestinations-ms" gets created and updated.
Then if I manually put back the 64bit "9b9cdc69c1c24e2b.automaticDestinations-ms", the Notepad jump list with that content reappears in the start menu. But that file is never updated when I open a file in Notepad, it always updates or creates a new 32bit type file "918e0ecb43d17e23.customDestinations-ms"
I have tried restoring from an earlier image backup and can confirm it was working a while back, but I have installed several thousands of dollars worth of licensed software that use the registry for licensing, so when I restore my latest image with all those licenses the Notepad jump list problem comes back.
All other application jump lists work fine.
Is there some registry setting that determines what AppID is calculated for Notepad that could be causing this ?
It's got me stumped
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers - Cliff
