Hi All,

A few months back, I installed Windows Admin Center on my Win10 laptop (all latest upgrades/updates applied). I am the sysadmin of our network, and my user account is a Domain Admin. All servers are WS2019 Datacenter Edition.

Things were working fine for the time I was using WAC - until about the end of Dec 2018. I hadn't touched it since then.

Then, just now, I re-entered it. I got some popup telling me that WAC had upgraded itself. I tried to connect to the servers which I had previously easily accessed, but kept on getting:

"Connecting to remote server server001.contoso.com failed with the following error message : WinRM cannot complete the operation. Verify that the specified computer name is valid, that the computer is accessible over the network, and that a firewall exception for the WinRM service is enabled and allows access from this computer."

The Firewalls appear to be configured correctly on the remote machine, and I can telnet in to the WinRM port with no problems. I turned off the firewall on one of the servers, and even that didn't help.

I also noticed that if I try to add an additional server, autodiscover fails. If I enter a truly existing server's FQDN, it takes a while before announcing "A server with the name 'server002.contoso.com' was not automatically discovered." If I enter a non-existing FQDN, autodiscover fails immediately.

I tried an uninstall/reboot/reinstall - to no avail. Also, it is a "vanilla" installation. I changed no defaults and didn't touch the extensions. I should point out that when I first installed the original version, I was stunned at how well it worked out of the box - I was expecting the post-installation config to be a nightmare.

I would appreciate any help.

Regards,

mlavie
