Ok, so I know that this has been answered several times, but we are still having issues with the age-old question:
How do you install Fonts via GPO on Windows 7?
Let me be clear; We have this working... sort of.
We have a GPO which makes the registry edit, and copy/replaces the files in question. The issue we are running into is the log-off/on aspect of installing the font.
On Windows 10 we apply the policy, run a gpupdate (not even /force!) and it simply works and the font is immediately available.
On Windows 7 we apply the policy and we see the registry change, but the file does not become available until the user does a log-off/on. We see this behavior on physical machines, as well ad dedicated VDI machines.
Now, the issue is that we are trying to apply this to a VDI pool. When a user logs off, their user data is backed up, their machine deleted, and when they log in again they get a whole new machine where the policy is applied successfully... but the font will not be available until it is too late and their machine is doomed to digital deconstruction.
Other than adding the font to the base image (which would break our purchase agreement on the font as we did not buy it for all users of even our marketing pool), is there a good way to apply this to our pool without requiring a log off/on? As I said, in Win10 this appears not to be an issue, so a year from now this will be a moot point. But in the mean time is there a way to make this work on 7?
If it matters these fonts are a combination of True Type and Open Type fonts.
Thanks!
