On one of my user's Windows 10 PCs, system sounds are working normally when I test them or when I click the Volume slider in the lower-right hand corner of their desktop.
None of their apps are able to produce any sound, though. I've tried opening audio files in various players as well as video files in various players. None of the apps are muted and this happens with any file I try to open, so it's not an audio issue with a particular file.
The sound settings are setup to use their speakers as the output. As I mentioned, it works for "system" sounds (like when they receive an email or when we test the sounds) but it does not work for audio or video playing apps.
They are using the version of Windows 10 prior to 1809.
