Hi!
From the very same day I installed Windows 10 Pro, I encountered something weird that is discussed all over the internet for almost a decade: after awakening from sleep, windows are being resized and moved all over the screen. In my old setting (Windows 7), I never encountered some stange behaviour like this. So, what is the root cause of this annoying side effect?
OLD SETTING (NO problems):
- OS : Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
- Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5, S1366, X58, 6xDDR3, FW, ATX
- Screen : Acer Predator XB240Hbmjdpr *)
- Video card : Asus Radeon HD 5850, 1GB, PCIe
NEW SETTING (problems):
- OS : Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
- Motherboard : GA-X99-Designare EX (rev. 1.0)
- Screen : Acer Predator XB240Hbmjdpr *)
- Video card : XFX Radeon RX 480 Core Edition 8GB
*) the screen is the only component that wasn't replaced
What did I try so far?
- deleted any logical screen from Windows Computer Management that was disabled (grayed out)
- messing around with the registry (the 'simulated key 00-00 subtrees' discussion)
- installed the most recent video drivers from the manufacturer's website
- made a new Windows power plan
In the current power plan:
- the monitor is turned off after 10 minutes
- the system is turned off after 30 minites
I tried randomly to awake the system from sleep (between 10 and 30 minutes) by pressing the Escape-key; sometimes the windows are still in place, but most of the time they are moved/resized.
I look likes there is some kind of logic behind (at least) moving the windows, as they are always aligned at the very same pixel at the right side.
Does anyone know what is going on here, and how it can be solved?
Thanks for any help.
