I have dual monitors, and at random times one screen will lock up/freeze. If I have mouse over an application title bar, can easily move it over to the other working monitor, but the 2nd screen will remain frozen. If I disconnect the monitor and reconnect, it will not resolve the problem. However if I open Display Settings, and change which screen is the primary, the frozen screen will "revive" again. When I say "freeze" I mean it is as if the display is just showing a screenshot full window mode.
A. Problem occurs on both monitors, both "left" and "right" have locked up
B. Does not matter which is set to be primary display. On both monitors, they have both frozen as either the primary or secondary
C. Power supply is 800w, as well as graphics card is newer GeForce GTX 650 with latest drivers
D. Only 1 monitor will freeze, never both
E. Powering off/disconnecting cable to monitor that is frozen has no effect
Now the most important thing to consider; This ONLY happens with Windows 10! Never happened with 7. After upgrade to 10, with this issue in mind, I reverted back for 1 week to 7 and the issue did not arise once. Once I went back to 10, within hours the problem arose again. That this occurs only under 10, and not 7, makes me consider this not to necessarily be hardware related issue. If my card was failing, or not getting enough power, or anything of the sort, I would assume I would have experienced this issue with 7 prior.
I would be interested to know if anyone has ever experienced this issue with 10 or even previous versions of Windows. My hope is not high that an easy fix or solution can be found. I would also like to hear if anyone has any ideas or tips, otherwise I will have to revert back for now to 7
