I am unable to view large or extra large thumbnail previews in file explorer when looking at files on my NAS (network) drive. Everything appears to work fine when the files are local, but now when on the network. I have ensured the "view" options are set correctly to show thumbnails. I have reviewed many others posts on this topic including this one:

However, I continue to have the problem. This used to work fine until recently. I'm not sure what may have changed. I don't have this problem on my other Win 10 system when pointing to the exact same network folder. So, it leads me to believe the problem is unique to this machine. It used to work fine. (Note: This PC was upgraded from WIn 7 to WIn 10 in that last month). It's odd because if I choose "tile" or "medium" options, the thumbnails appear. But when I choose large or extra large, I get the stock icon (and sometimes a few thumbnails). This is quite frustrating. I've already cleared the thumbnail cache via disk cleanup and the brute force method of deleting the files. However, the problem still persists. I would appreciate any help from others who have solved this problem.

Thanks, Chris.

Update: After looking into this further, I discovered two additional pieces of information that may be helpful:

1. I think this could be a "Library" related problem - All of the thumbnails appear correctly when I access the network share directly. It's only when I access it through the library feature that this seems to occur. My pictures library includes several folders (including the NAS share). Since network shares aren't easily included in a library, I followed the recommendation from other posts that involved creating a symbolic link to the NAS so it could be included. This has worked fine for years. It also works fine on my other computer (which doesn't experience this problem). Said more simply, the thumbnails do work if I access the NAS share only, but not when I access it through my Pictures Library. I will try deleting creating another symbolic link and seeing how that behaves. I do like the library feature (perhaps I'm one of the few), so I'd like to see this continue to work as it has for years.

2. I mentioned this works fine on my other Windows 10 computer. It does. However, that computer runs Windows 10 Pro. The one I'm having trouble with runs Windows 10 home. I'm not sure if that is part of the problem, but wanted to mention it. Note: The Win 10 Pro machine also has the symbolic links set up and those included in the Pictures Library. Since it works there as it always has, it makes me think it could be some odd between the two versions. But that's just a guess.

Thanks, Chris
