I occasionally connect my laptop to an external display and would like to find a solution so that whenever I shut my laptop lid the laptop stays on when I am connected to an external display and the laptop goes to sleep when I am not connected to an external display. I see how I can universally select one of these options under Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings but I don't see how I can have the selection change based on whether or not an external display is connected.
I am looking for a solution where I change the settings once and everything just works. If this isn't an option can it be added to a future Windows 10 update.
I am using Windows 10 Version 1903
