How do I restore my last windows.old folder to what it was before this latest update overwrote it. Were these files just moved or deleted? I did try to roll back the update update but to no avail. (1903)
Situation
in 2018 I had a crash and had no choice but to reinstall win 10 then, and to create a new user account in the process. I couldn't get a bunch of data to restore properly but low and behold I could access those files if I opened windows.old, and took control of them.
After the auto-update a couple of days ago, I now find a new iteration of a windows.old file but it looks like its been overwritten by a new version. Help. Please. What was there which was really important, has now disappeared.
If I had any inkling this would happen I would have moved them all to the cloud. Are the files now gone as in erased, or moved? How do I find them and how do I get access to them?
I tried contacting MSFT support twice now and got a "there is no solution, try a data recovery software" as the response.
