I've typed this up on Microsoft Community, so this is a copy and paste:

On my domain, we've started the process of upgrading our PC's to Windows 10. However, we're starting to notice an issue which is causing serious delays to our users working days.

On Windows 7, if I cut files from \\servername\workingfolder\output and paste them to \\servername\workingfolder\transferred, it's instant. No progress bars, no "calculating" or "discovering items" screens, nothing.

However, if I do the exact same thing on a Windows 10 machine, it takes a while. A long while. I've been testing this on my own laptop (Also Windows 10) and I get the same. Moving 4 folders with a total of 1,000 files is producing the "Discovering items" and "Calculating" progress screens, whereas we consistently just get it moved instantly on a Windows 7 machine.

This, to me, rules out any issues on the server, as it works from a Windows 7 desktop. However, I need to get this working instantly on a Windows 10 machine. What settings do I need to change to match this up to how Windows 7 works with this process?

Just for completeness:

The two PC's I've been testing with are both the same model (HP Pro 400 G2.5 SFF), with same specification (quad-core i5, 8GB, 240GB SSD, Gig NIC)

Both PC's are connected to the same Cisco switch with 1Gb. I've even swapped the network ports between the two. (This wouldn't explain why I get it on my machine in a completely different part of the building though).

When the users machine was Windows 7, she could do the file moves instantly. It's only since rebuilding on Windows 10 that we've seen the issue

I've already been advised, and tried, the advise in this thread:

Copy speed very slow in windows 10
