Windows 10 Problems with Capture on Touch 215ii

Just in the last few weeks (early August 2019) my 215ii Canon scanner software suddenly stopped working and gave me the "Scanning Error" message: "The device could not be locked. Check that another application isn't using the device. (-4630)." I have called Canon support twice, deleted all/all Canon scanner software and under Canon support's instructins reloaded the 215ii software, swapped out the USB cable, but to no avail. Canon support says it is a Windows recent upgrade compatibility problem and that they have contacted Micosoft about it. I can use the lite version of this capture program (the one that is built into the scanner), but not the full version. I have had this little, and very satisfactory, scanner for about one year and have had no/no problems with it or the software up until now. Any suggestions?
