does using gpp to modify IE 11 settings work or should we transfer those settings to gpo

now that I have loaded the 1809 admx files I see a bunch more IE settings

I am having an issue getting my gpp settings to apply but I can do the same with the policies

so is gpp ie configuration the approved way to apply ie11 settings or should I use the GPO since there are more settings now after the admx upgrade

and if I do move to the gpo way of configuring IE11 will that work on my existing windows 7 and windows 10 1607 with ie11
