Hi everyone, today we will introduce you the Windows Virtual Desktop technology.
As we already know, Windows Virtual Desktop Preview is a new Azure-based service that delivers a complete virtualized multi-user Windows 10 experience together with Office 365 ProPlus, on Azure.
With Windows Virtual Desktop, we can deploy and scale Windows desktops and apps on Azure in minutes and enjoy built-in security.
The service combines a single-user Windows 7 virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) with multi-user Windows 10 and Windows Server Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and is hosted on any virtual machine layer of Azure.
Virtual Desktop VS VDI
Windows virtual desktops are hosted in the Azure cloud, reducing the need to deploy expensive on-premises infrastructure, which is often a transaction disruptor for small businesses.
Because Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) runs on Azure, organizations can quickly virtualize and scale modern and legacy desktop applications and then manage solutions without requiring all infrastructure to monitor and back up local VDI solutions.
Virtual desktops will also provide specific benefits for Office 365 users.
Windows Virtual Desktop Licensing
Windows Virtual Desktop currently only supports the following two OSes:
*Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session
*Windows Server 2016
For users accessing the Windows 10 and Windows 7 desktops and apps, there’s no additional cost if you’re an existing Microsoft 365F1/E3/E5, Windows 10 Enterprise E3/E5, or Windows VDA customer. For Windows Server desktops and apps, there’s no additional cost if you’re an existing Microsoft RDS Client Access License (CAL) customer.
To deploy and manage your virtualization environment, we just need to set up an Azure subscription.
We can sign up for a one-month free trial.
How to deploy
The service brings together single-user Windows 7 virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and multi-user Windows 10 and Windows Server remote desktop services (RDS) and is hosted on any of Azure's virtual machine tiers.
ΔCreate a tenant in Windows Virtual Desktop Preview
Grant Azure Active Directory permissions to the Windows Virtual Desktop Preview service
