Hello guys,
I have got a serious issue in regards to the file association to PDF-files. This association keeps reverting back to the Edge browser, regardless of my actions. I have done quite a few tryouts now, and i am close to desperate on this one - as this is an absurd issue that seems so obvious to solve, is yet so hard to troubleshoot and to get fixed... So PDF keeps reverting to the Edge browser on each reboot. I found many possible online fixes, none helped me:
I installed Foxit Reader (latest version) and i have tried:
- Associate PDF through right mouse button --> open with...: fails, resets to Edge on reboot
- Associate PDF through Default Programs --> fails, resets to Edge on reboot
- Renamed the PDF association in regedit: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_44.18362.387.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Capabilities\FileAssociations --> fails, resets to Edge on reboot
- Deleted the PDF association in regedit: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_44.18362.387.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Capabilities\FileAssociations --> fails, resets to Edge on reboot
It would be nice to get some help on this issue guys. To be clear: no GPO is active changing file associations. So it should remember the way it is changed.
