Hello to everybody and thanks in advance for reading my request.
We've just introduced Microsoft Work Folders as the default feature for saving relevant data for everybody in our company. Therefore we use Folder Redirection to move some libraries like Documents or Desktop to a location that is then synced with the Work Folders feature.
This is working very well when looking at thousands of users where this already worked without any issue during a device replacement project.
So, nevertheless we sporadically face "issues" with the replication status indicated by the status icon in Windows Explorer. While each subfile is successfully replicated, the parent folder won't show the green icon (always available) but the red one (error) without any reason and this is inherited until the top of the folder, for example "Documents".
So as a result of this, my Windows Explorer shows Documents and Desktop (the shortcuts and the libraries below "My PC") with a red X which results in several users asking for the real replication status.
For sure, the files are located on the server and synchronized by f.e. renaming quite performantly.
Further, there are no entries in the WorkFolders event logs.
Additionally, when creating a new folder analog to one facing that issue, it falls into the exact same problem after sync was done (successfully).
Furthermore, I have found some kind of file dependency: Sometimes only one file cause the issue and it can be handled by removing it or copying the content into a new created one.
Please take a look at the attached screenshots describing the file dependency. Try.xlsx is a new file containing the content of the other Excel file. Please keep in mind this is an example. The problems occur with other file types as well.
To sum this up, my questions are
- Did anyone already face (and possibly solved) this kind of issue?
- Can anybody explain this behavior to me please?
- What do you think happened with these files? Are they corrupted? How to specifically verify this?
Thanks in advance.
Greetings.
