I wonder if download mode Group of Windows Update Delivery Optimization can work in following environment:
no domain controller
AD not in use
no WSUS in use nor similar
no Microsoft manager service in LAN of any other type
client stations use one single workgroup for local inter-networking (CIFS as major application)
All WUDO peers are in local network and are expected to share updates among each other. They are expected to not fetch updates from WUDO peers in Internet. For this goal to be achieved few configurations were made on clients and in LAN.
Some WUDO peers are connected directly to physical LAN. Remaining ones run on virtual machines (whose physical host is connected to same physical LAN) and connect to network through NAT-networking so they operate in virtual LAN which connects to physical LAN through hypervisor's NAT.
