While running windows 10 Update, the computer locked up and was totally unresponsive after an extended period of time, about 30 minutes. No error message was displayed on the screen, nor was the cursor pointer visible. I rebooted the computer, the bios prompt came up, and the windows logo (the blue/green box) appeared, and the circle which indicated the booting process was underway appeared. The circle shifted position to the bottom of the screen, and then the screen went blank. It does not sound like the hard drive finished it process. I was able to access the diagnostic and reset menu, neither of which work. The diagnostic process provided the message, "cannot complete," and the startup repair provided the message "cannot repair." I tried the reset option, and it got 30% through the process and then stated "cannot complete the process." I was able to access the restore function, but for some reason all my restore points were gone - I know I had designated points because of a previous issue, and had used them to restore the computer previously. A little disconcerting, to say the least. And as luck would have it, my back up boot drive seems to have failed totally also, though I never used it prior to this event. So, I am at a loss as to next steps. I have done this process (Windows 10 update) to several other computers with no issues, so I have seen this work. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!!
