I am running Windows 10 Professional Version 1809 on a Lenovo ThinkPad P52. I am connecting to a WebDAV Server app (Version 1.17 from The Olive Tree - free version with ads) running on a Moto E4 running Andriod V7.1.1.
I have been using the The Olive Tree WebDAV app for years and have been very happy with it.
I recently discovered that the Windows 10 DOS DIR command does not correctly display free space on a network drive!?!!
After mapping the Moto as Windows 10 Drive Z: (as described at How to setup webDAV in windows 10...?), I see:
C:\>dir autoexec.bat
Volume in drive C is Windows
Volume Serial Number is 8208-6834
Directory of C:\
02/16/2019 06:32 PM 17 AUTOEXEC.BAT
1 File(s) 17 bytes
0 Dir(s) 76,361,641,984 bytes free
C:\>z:
Z:\>dir callrecordings\.nomedia
Volume in drive Z has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 0000-0000
Directory of Z:\callrecordings
10/21/2019 07:09 PM 0 .nomedia
1 File(s) 0 bytes
0 Dir(s) 76,361,641,984 bytes free
Z:\>
Please note that the amount of space shown as free (76,361,641,984 bytes free or roughly 76 GB) is the same on both the C: and Z: drives. That would be an incredible coincidence and furthermore is not possible since the Android only has 16 GB of storage.
It seems that a DOS DIR command when run against Drive Z: shows the amount of space free on Drive z:!?!!
Is Microsoft aware of this anomalous behavior?
