Windows 7 Network transfer rate.

I have a Buffalo Tera Station and have it connected to my computer by a network card, it is not run through my router because of data usage limits. Any way I am transferring and or backing up files to this drive and the transfer rate is really slow (5Mbs) The drive is mapped so its just a matter of cut and paste to move the files. Is there any way to speed the transfer up?

Here are the specs on my PC

Win 10 Pro 1809 I 5 3.2 CPU 16 Gig Ram 2 Gigabit either net cards one on board the other is a expansion card to which my NAS drive is connected.
