Windows 10 Desktop shortcut arrow

In the lower right hand corner of any desktop shortcut there is a small arrow. This arrow on two of my system is missing and in its place is what looks like a vacant document . It embarrassing to have to ask, but my online search have so far yielded nothing, how to I get the shortcut arrow back on the desktop shortcuts?

I tried SFC /scannow, thinking its corruption of some kind in Windows. I tried entirely new profiles on those systems without fixing the problem.

Anyone?
