I'm not sure how it happened but in my attempt to disable windows defender I got it disabled but when I try to re-enable it it says I don't have permission to do that. I could not disable the services via services.msc so I used autoruns and was able to disable it from there. Later when I tried to re-enable it both the services screen and autoruns tell me "error changing item state. Access is denied". I can see the key for autoruns disable in the service entry for the windows defender registry I just can't delete the key. Is there a way to alter the key temporarily to allow the change and then put it back after its fixed. Thanks. Windows 10 1909.
