Windows 10 Unable to access LaCie NAS over SMB since upgrading from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro

I am being asked to authenticate myself to SMB shares on my LaCie 2big NAS since upgrading to Win 10 Pro. I will click on a share, be prompted for a username and password, enter the credentials manually, with or without specifying the domain, domain as NetBIOS name or IP and I receive the following error:

"\\2big\share is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource."

I am logged in with a local account that bears the same name and password as the one defined on the NAS for the SMB share.
