I received a call from a Private Number with an Indian accent.
He said to me that he was from Microsoft Tech Support and that my computer has been sending them many warning and error messages.
I was sketchy and asked him, is this a scam, and he kept saying no it isn't and he read out my computer ID which matched with mine, so I thought it was real. He then asked me to CTRL + R - eventvwr to show me the errors, it cam up with about 5,550 different errors. he then asked me to start remote access (which I stupidly did).
He showed me all these different error things and all these systems on my computer that were 'blocked' or 'stopped' (said the hackers were doing this so they can block everything running my computer and then take over). Then he showed me this part that said "Lease end Thursday 05th March) and explained that the hackers will shut down by computer on this date. He then discussed a malware system option which he should download and this will fix the issue and won't give the hackers access.
I was so sketchy at that point and told him I have to cancel this remote access and call my partner, to which I called Microsoft support and they advised me it was a scam. Microsoft then did remote access and said my computer was clean.
Do I need to do anything further?? Should I still be worried that I gave them remote access? Please help.
