My goal is to create a Windows 10 multi-app kiosk which allows MS Edge and Remote Desktop Connection. Edge will automatically launch to a site where users will login. Upon login they will have a list of RDP connections to choose from. When they choose one, it will automatically launch that RDP file in Remote Desktop Connection.
This is mostly working. The only issue is upon clicking the RDP connection nothing happens. Users can select Save instead of Open and the RDP file will be saved in Downloads. So they can then close Edge, manually launch Remote Desktop Connection, browse to the Downloads folder, and open the downloaded RDP file. Obviously far from the ideal experience. I'd really like to figure how how to get Remote Desktop Connection to automatically launch the downloaded file. It seems something in the Kiosk experience is blocking this.
I'm using InTune configuration profiles to create the Kiosk. First I've created a Kiosk profile there specifying a multi-app kiosk with Edge and Remote Desktop Connection as the allowed apps. Also critically, I've allowed the setting so user has access to Downloads folder. Edge is configured to use "Normal mode (full version)".
Next I'm also creating a separate inTune device configuration profile. That profile doesn't have any settings turned on except for MS Edge settings. Key among them are setting up the default start page I want and setting Edge Kiosk mode to public browsing multi-app.
Any ideas how I can get the RDP file selected in Edge to automatically open like on a non-kiosk PC?
