Hi all

I have 3 three partitions on my exchange server. Exc2003 SP2 and Win
Ser2003. The C drive was only made 11GB when the servers was setup but the D
and E drive is 55GB and 200GB respectively. The freen space on C cramped
from 3.41G to 2.59GB in 2 weeks time. How can i stop this as i heard
terrible stories when C run out of disk space. The C\windows shows Size
7,13GB and Size on Disk 5,60GB (whats the difference?). Any way that i can
get this folder smaller?

Any way that i can take some of the space of the bigger drives and add it to
the smaller one. They did build RAID 5 into the servers. Will this
technology cater for this type of scenatio or must i make masnually
provision for it?

Re: Hard drive - How do i clean up the C drive

Are you saying C D and E are all logical partitions of one RAID5 volume?

and where's the page file?

Hi

Based on this info i assume what you are trying to tell me is to move my
pagefile away from the C drive. Do i need to do this after business hours.
Will the databse be accessible still and poeple connected to their
mailboxes?

This is a question more for the WINDOWS EXPERTS : Is there anyway that i can
take some of the "space" from the other 2 drives and add it to my C-drive
without have to rebuildt the entire server.

Thanks Oliver for the help this far

Try something like TreeSize Pro (JAM software) or similar....to find out
what's taking up the space & either move or delete it. For example, you can
move the $NTUNINSTALL.... subfolders from %windir% to another volume.

11GB is pretty small, so you might actually want to consider resizing the
partition, if you have any space to spare - I believe Acronis makes a server
partition management product.

Moving the pagefile will possibly ask you to reboot (depending on your
current pagefile configuration)

There are third party products that will resize your partitions

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=partition+resizing+tools&meta=

Also see if IIS or SMTP is logging to your C:\ drive, and consider removing
any redundant $uninstall folders that are no longer needed.

OK, thanks i will move the $NTUNINSTALL folders to another drive. This won't
give me issues hey?

Yes, i don't know why they made it that small. If i use a pertition
management system do i need to partition my whole server and configure again
or can i do it on a system that are runing live and keep evrything installed

How do i change the path where IIS and SMTP logg to?

Can i just move all the $uninstall folders to a different location or can
only certain ones be moved?

Sorry didn't see this mate,

Removing these means you can't unistall updates to your computer. What I do
is remove the ones that are a certain age, say 3-6 months old. As you will
usually only unistall recent hotfixes.

Before you do that above think long and hard about how long you want to go
back too. If you have years worth you could play it safe and delete anything
12 months +
