Re: Net View command not working - says "there are no entries in the l
Hi Marc,
Check your Computer Browser service on the affected machines, that it is
installed and running. The computer browser service is installed with the
Client for Microsoft Networks. Within your nic's local area connection
properties confirm that
this is listed and checkmarked, if its not you can install it via the
Install button.
Make sure that you have the Computer Browser service correctly setup on your
network, the browstat command is excellent for this.

If you use the computer browse service (net view) so that client PCs can
browse through MyNetworkPlaces, and if your network is on the larger side,
you may want to consider using WINS as its much more network efficient for
this purpose (the browser service can be very broadcast chatty). However to
do this you would still need the computer browser service running on your DC
servers as well as disabled on all client pcs.
