Windows 10 Lenovo Ideapad locked by Bitlocker

Cant use the laptop as apparently Windows installed Bitlocker without my permission and failed to provide the unlock key. When I turn on the Lenovo it loads a blue screen asking to enter Bitlocker key before progressing further. I tried rebooting and changing the bios Secure Boot setting to enabled, but it did not fix the problem. I have read that this can be fixed by reinstalling Windows using a USB. I tried that, but during the setup process it tells me that I cant install it to the available C: drive partition because it is locked by Bitlocker. How can this situation be fixed?
