Hello all,

It is missing from both "Security at a glance" and the "Windows Security" screen. Leaving no way

to control the Virus & Threat Protection feature.

This problem appears to be happening more frequently. While the cause is unknown, there is a

simple Registry modification, that will fix the problem.

In W10 PRO this condition can be initiated using the Group Policy Editor. For W10 Home, who knows

how it is happening. Since it is becoming more prevalent, it may be malware related.

If you become affected by this condition, enter the Registry by clicking "Start" and type "regedit".

Select "Run as an Administrator". Then, in the Registry Editor screen, navigate to the following location.

Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows Defender Security Center\Virus And Threat

Protection
.

This folder will probably only contain one key. "Default".

Right-click on the blank space in this folder.

Rest the cursor on "New", and select "Dword (32-bit) Value"

Type "UILockdown" and leave the Dword = 0 (0 = Show 1 = Hide)

Left click on the blank space, then exit the Registry.

No need to Restart. "Virus & Threat Protection" should be accessible now.

Regards, Glen
