Greetings,
I recently suspected that my computer may be infected with a virus so I ran both a full system from defender as well as a scan from Malwarbytes and they came up clean. I decided to run an The offline scan as well. It seemed to be working so I walked away and all seemed okay. However, I couldn't find the results so I did some digging and found in the event viewer it had the code 5007 which mentions that something unexpected happened that may have been a result of malware. I found another forum here that mentioned doing the following to make sure there were no corrupted files.
Open Start, type: CMD
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator
Type in at the prompt OR Copy and Paste these one at a time : (Hit enter after each)
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Also run the System File Checker utility:
Open Start, type: CMD
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator
At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow
This will check for any integrity violations
Restart your system
I did all these and during that last one it mentioned finding and it mentioned finding and fixing some corruption. I wanted to run the Offline Scan and now it asks if I want to do it and then says it needs permission which I do and then nothing happens. Full system scan seems to be working fine.
I'm not sure where to go from here so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any help.
Update, I went back into the event viewer and now it has this after both time I tried to run the offline scan.
Windows Defender Antivirus has encountered an error trying to download and configure Windows Defender Offline.
Error code: 0x8000000a
Error description: The data necessary to complete this operation is not yet available.
