Since my pc was working slowly for the whole day so I thought of scanning it. When I opened my windows defender it asked for an update. At that time my real time protection was turned on. After that first I completed scanning and then updated virus and spyware definition. After installing it, virus and spyware status turned up to date but my real time protection has turned off automatically.

As my real time protection turned off, in windows defender pc status: at risk is showing. and a red-screened icon with cross in it is showing.

There is an option of turning on but as I clicked it , a dialog box appeared on my screen reading - This operation returned because time out period expired. following that was a suggestion to take help.

now what I need to do to turn on my real time protection in window defender?
