I have many scheduled tasks that run overnight while my computer is locked.
Several of those tasks involve the following:
- Running a .bat file to open Firefox
- Using a browser automation tool (iMacros) to navigate to a web page
- Copying the text from the web page to the clipboard
- Extracting the contents of the clipboard to a .txt file
The tasks are set to:
- Run only when the user is logged on
- Run with highest privileges
- Wake the computer to run the tasks
All of these tasks work perfectly with Windows 7. I recently upgraded to Windows 10, and the tasks still work if I run them manually, but they have stopped working correctly while the computer is locked. They open Firefox, navigate to the correct pages, and select the appropriate text, but are unable to copy anything to the clipboard. All of the resulting .txt files are blank.
In both Windows 7 and Windows 10, I'm using Firefox 55.0.2 and iMacros 9.0.3.
My other scheduled tasks continue to work correctly in Windows 10, including several that use the clipboard; the difference is that those tasks use Excel instead of Firefox.
Any idea what's going on?
