What does it mean when it displays "access denied" for bootrec /fixboot?
How do you troubleshoot this problem on computers that can only use the Windows 10 iso advanced troubleshooting menu command prompt?
(The above indicates that the computer's windows advanced troubleshooting menu cannot be opened, and that startup repair and system restore failed) Also there is no backup image and clean install is not an option.
The purpose of this thread is to learn and understand how to fix bootrec /fixboot. If formatting the boot partition is the best early option please indicate how to do that and then rebuild the boot sector.
Please provide solutions for MBR
and please provide solutions for GPT
Please be as specific as possible so that each step can be followed on a practice computer. If they work on a practice computer then the steps can be applied to a computer that has failed to boot with bootrec /fixboot access denied.
a) When if ever do you run bcdboot c:\windows /s s: ?
b) When if ever do you run boot sect /nt60 C: ?
