I created a "print to file" port for my users. port name is x:\outfile.pcl Drive x is mapped to the user's home drive. When the user prints from the app, the file prints as PCL to the home drive. This has worked until the last patches for Windows 10 (May 2020). When we connect the printer to the port, it works fine until the user restarts or logs off. Then the port disappears. It does not disappear if we point it to c:\outfile. Our policy is to not write sensitive files to the C drive.
My company refuses to remove the patch since only 10 workstation print to file. How can I fix this? Thank you.
