Hi,

I recently encountered an issue after Windows 10 Upgrade to version 1909. Start Menu entries for Modern Apps like Maps or Fotos did not show up with their normal name, but only with a cryptic string. Also the Icons of these Apps were gone!

I quickly found out that all these Apps were blocked in our environment by a Applocker Policy. (We have also blocked the Store, so no App can update itself via the Store at the moment. It is planned to introduce a Enterprise Store soon.)

For troubleshooting reasons, I disabled Applocker on some clients and after I clicked on one of the App entries in the Start Menu, the Name of the App was refreshed including the Icon! Event more interesting: All other broken Apps did refresh as well, so after some seconds, Start Menu looked ok. So it turned out that the apps themselves were ok, only their Shortcuts in the Start Menu were broken.

No I have two questions: How can I avoid this corruption of the App entries in the future? And how can I fix the startmenu on already corrupted devices?

My plan is to temporarily disable the Applocker policy, run some remediation stuff on the client and then apply the Applocker policy again. Step 1 and 3 are easy, I'm just missing the remediation stuff.

Manually running Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”} helped on some devices, but not on all of them...

If someone could help me with a hint, this would be great.
