Windows 10 Default Email client GPO applied but Default App is not changed to Outlook

Hi

I am trying to apply a GPO to change the default email client to Outlook

Do we have any known issue with Microsoft 365 enterprise client and Outlook 2016 client on these grounds.


Tried options

I have tried both options of using a custom adm template and setting a xml file in default configuration file for computer settings. I have also tried the preferences option for user settings to openwith.

The GPO shows as applied, the registry setting is also update but still the default app is not updated to Outlook, it still shows Mail

Any inputs are greatly appreciated.
