Cant find out any information on this, But seems to be an issue that maybe not a lot of people have came across yet .
Windows 10 1909 on 600+ machines
Staff - Roaming Profiles - Profiles removed from machines at shutdown
Kids - Mandatory profiles - Profiles removed from machines at shutdown
Issue
We deploy a start menu to all users ( which they cant change) using a GPO . This works perfect upto the time a user wants to change their password ( or the 3 month expiry date comes around ).
If a Roaming users password expires They then proceed to change it as normal , This then allows them to login and the start menu looks corrupt . It looks like the GP deployed start menu has applied but near enough all icons are missing from the start menu and tiles, except some standard items like edge .
If a user with a mandatory or local profile logs on and changes their password , Start menu is fine and does not corrupt like the Roaming user.
If a roaming user logs off and reboots the machines, the start menu is correct and is fine .
If a roaming user logs onto another machine ( while still logged on another machine with a corrupt start menu ) the start menu works correctly ( after changing their password). This means it cant be profile related ? as the initial computer hasn't been logged off so the profile hasn't updated.
All the items that show up in the corrupt start menu are not located in the program data/Start menu folder
Makes me wonder if this is a permission issue after the password resets.
