I'm trying to use the File resource manager to generate reports of the types
of files that exist on our fileshares. When I open the mmc and select Storage
Reports Management, I get an error window telling me to check my app event
log. In the event log is the error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: FSRM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 0
Date: 8/22/2007
Time: 8:28:31 AM
User: N/A
Computer: Server
Description:
An unexpected error occurred in the File Server Resource Manager MMC snap-in
at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.StorageTaskDataCache.Enumerate(RemoteManager
remoteManager, SrmDataCacheEnumEventHandler EventHandler, Int32 BatchSize)
at
Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.StorageTasksDisplayArea.EnumerateItemsIntoListView()
Value does not fall within the expected range.
at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.ISrmReportManager.get_Reports()
at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.ReportTask.EnumReportTasks(RemoteManager
remoteManager)

Once this happens I can't do anything report-wise. I'm not having much luck
googling this one. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

If you have Server 2003 R2 then check this article out...

Re: FRSM error?

Hi Coraleigh,

I did see that and tried the fix described there with no luck. Even upped
the server to sp2 and still no go. Its just weird. I'm still googling this
one... :)

Re: FRSM error?

Got it. Apparently, a previously created report with underscores in the
filename jacked up the whole reporting system. Deleting this file and
restarting the File server reports manager service did the trick.
