I have been facing this issue since quite sometime where windows will lose the saved passwords on a reboot. I noticed this first with google chrome where after a reboot it will show the sync as paused and it prompts me for the credentials. I earlier thought it was a chrome issue but later noticed that the passwords for the network share or for a mapped network drive also are lost and I have to reenter the credentials. Even the skype app loses the credentials and asks me to sign in again.

I am facing this issue on 2 windows 10 machines 1909 version. Both are workgroup machines using local account. The network share is a portable NAS as well as a USB HDD connected to the router. I have mapped those drives in windows explorer and saved the credentials.

I usually put the laptop as well as the desktop in sleep mode but have to end up rebooting the machines every now and then, all thanks to windows update. Until I do not reboot the machines, they will keep remembering the credentials, no issues with chrome pausing sync even if I close and reopen chrome multiple times. No issues connected to the mapped drives from explorer. No prompt of any password.

If I reboot and this is random as I have not been able to reproduce the issue constantly but windows will lose the credentials and will prompt me to re enter the credentials for everything.

Issue was noticed on one of the machines with a fresh install of windows, just drivers and drives mapped. Windows update happened and a reboot was needed and I ran into the problem.

I have researched a lot on this and all other posts about credential manager refer to domain machines but no such solution for a non domain joined machine.
