Hi all. As the title says, I cannot access the virus & threat protection section of Windows Defender and get a popup that says my IT Administrator has limited access. I'm on a personal laptop, so obviously it isn't an IT administration issue. After doing research, I'm pretty confident that the issue has to do with me previously installing Trend Micro antivirus and that conflicting with Windows Defender somehow.
I've tried everything in this article: Problems starting Windows Defender in Windows 8/8.1/10. Trend Micro would not uninstall the normal way through add or remove programs (would freeze at 0% for hours), so I force removed it with Geek, which supposedly deleted everything associated with Trend from my laptop. Hopefully that's not bad. Windows Defender DOES open in safe boot, but none of the other methods worked for when I boot out of safe mode.
Tried this method as well: Your Virus & threat protection is managed by your organization. End up with an error saying this key doesn't exist.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm tearing my hair out here.
