Hello!

I have had the ncat/nc.exe tools/files for about two years after a CTF I was part of required us to have them for a few of their tasks. Since then I had them in a folder and I ran multiple scans of both Windows Defender and also ESET and they always returned that there is no threat. Recently after I reran Windows Defender, it has detected nc.exe as HackTool: Win32/RemoteAdmin!MSR. I have removed the entire folder after the antivirus removed nc.exe, or at least seemed to remove it. Should I be concerned? Why has the antivirus said nothing so far in two years of weekly scans? I know that nc.exe and ncat are tools for network analysis, was there a recent update that caused it to be considered malware?

Thank you
