Hi,
I have an issue where Defender suddenly uses all resources available (msmpeng.exe CPU>90%) and freezes the whole PC. This lasts about 3-5 minutes and occurs 2 or 3 times a day at different periods, usually once in the morning and another run in the middle of the afternoon. I did not notice a pattern in the occurrences or whether this was bound to a particular application. When I have a "freeze", the PC becomes totally unresponsive.
I did run a mpcmdrun -getfiles after one occurrence such that I have the complete logs and will happily send it to someone from Microsoft if required. I did have a look at the different files (not the ETLs though) and could not find anything suspect that could me a clue about the reasons behind these sudden peaks. I have a restricted "admin" access on this machine and can not decrease affinity or priority of this process.
Just happened at 07:32:20 UTC until 07:36:25 UTC, see graphs.
Regards
