Yesterday my computer was invaded and the screens that popped up looked like Microsoft material. There was even audio telling me to call this number: 844 276 1709. I called that number and said "how do I know you really are Microsoft?" He gave me this number to call; 800 642 7676, which I believe is a real Microsoft help number. The person I called did not ask for any information. But whoever did the hack took control of my computer.
I called the Microsoft number , but you cannot speak to a real person. The system sends you a link to the help page, but with no human contact. I gave up. The computer seemed to be back to normal in the morning. I ran a can that came out normal. I don't know if they took information, or it was a ransomware attack where the person at the first number would offer to fix my computer for a fee.
Did anyone else have the attack? Is the 844 number a real Microsoft number? I read something that said the 800 642 7676 number is not a real Microsoft number, but it seems like it is. Is it?
